In the video that went viral on social media, a woman can be seen posing for a selfie with a group of friends before being struck on the head by a passing train. The accident occurred in April of this year in the rural area of Uberaba, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
The woman was rescued by firefighters and taken to the hospital with suspected rib fractures.
Despite the train driver sounding the horn multiple times, the cyclists did not move away from the tracks. Another cyclist also sustained a cut to the thigh after her friend was thrown by the train.
In the video, the victim of the accident can be heard screaming “it hit me” and her friends attempting to calm her “calm down, it’s okay, breathe, breathe”. In May, the cyclist reflected on the accident on social media, thanking for having survived.
The company owning the locomotive urged people to be cautious, as trains always occupy a larger space than the tracks.
